Practical information

For any regulatory nuance, the official French sources prevail.

Red zone

verified on June 10, 2026

  • The red zone covers the summit venues and their immediate surroundings, around the Évian Resort. It is strictly reserved for heads of state and government, their delegations and people authorised by the organisers.
  • It sits inside the blue zone and covers 12 streets or areas, including boulevard du Royal and avenue des Mateirons. The full list of streets does not appear in the consulted sources, check pass-g7.gouv.fr.
  • For residents, access is only possible with a duly justified imperative reason (residence, professional reason, caregiver). Motorised access requires both an individual G7 Pass and a G7 Vehicle Pass.
  • From June 13 at 10:00 pm, driving in the red zone is forbidden. Only residents' vehicles may park there.

Blue zone

verified on June 10, 2026

  • The blue zone covers a wider perimeter around the red zone. Access requires an individual G7 Pass, mandatory for all users, pedestrians and vehicles alike.
  • The G7 Pass is mandatory for residents, entitled persons (employees, health professionals, shopkeepers) and anyone crossing the zone without stopping, notably via the RD 1005 road.
  • No separate G7 Vehicle Pass is required to drive within the blue zone alone.
  • Many car parks in the blue zone are reserved for the summit and therefore closed to parking. Precise parking conditions had not been published as of June 10.
  • Outside the two zones, access remains free, with no accreditation or G7 Pass. Standard police checks remain possible.
  • The préfecture states there is no lockdown of the communes: hosting family or visitors remains possible, provided they hold a G7 Pass obtained in advance.

G7 Pass

verified on June 10, 2026

  • The G7 Pass is a personal permit in the form of a QR code, shown at zone entry points, on a phone or on paper. The process is entirely free: any payment request signals a fake website.
  • It can only be requested on pass-g7.gouv.fr, a platform open since May 11, 2026. The préfecture recommended applying before Sunday June 7, processing taking about one week.
  • No pass is issued on site at checkpoints, except in cases of absolute emergency. A pending application should not be submitted again.
  • Concerned: all residents of the zone, hotel, guesthouse and campsite guests, economic and social actors, and anyone over 13. Children born after June 17, 2013 are exempt.
  • A blue zone resident who does not plan to leave home from June 11 to 17 must still register: checks may be carried out within the zone.
  • Holders of an official summit accreditation do not need a G7 Pass. Baccalaureate candidates receive their pass directly through the préfecture and the education authority.
  • A pass obtained for the blue zone does not grant access to the red zone. A pass obtained for the red zone is also valid in the blue zone.
  • The G7 Vehicle Pass only concerns the red zone: any vehicle pass request for the blue zone alone is automatically rejected.
  • Documents required: a sharp ID photo, an identity document valid or expired less than 10 years ago, proof of address less than 3 months old. Holidaymakers: booking confirmation. Workers: contract, mission letter or employer certificate. Visitors: proof of visit or appointment.
  • Without internet access, a relative can complete the process. The town halls of Évian, Neuvecelle, Publier and Thonon, and all Maisons France Services in the Chablais, help users in difficulty.
  • Trouble with the G7 Pass: +33 1 86 65 24 21. Any other question: +33 4 50 33 60 74 or pref-g7-infopublic@haute-savoie.gouv.fr.

Roads and parking

verified on June 10, 2026

  • Traffic on the RD 1005 is maintained in both directions, subject to showing the G7 Pass at checkpoints on the edge of the blue zone. Entering takes time: pass and identity checks, and vehicle searches where applicable.
  • Congestion is expected on roads across the Chablais. Signposted alternative routes are in place with the departmental council: using them is strongly recommended. Road information on inforoute74.fr.
  • Non-essential travel is discouraged and remote work is advised, given the heavy flows on both sides of the French-Swiss border.
  • In the red zone, only residents' vehicles may park. In the blue zone, many car parks are reserved for the summit and closed to parking.
  • Park-and-ride facilities are set up in Lugrin. No parking is possible in the immediate vicinity of the Lugrin pier.
